Terms of use

1. Service and operator

These terms are effective July 27, 2026. Second Move is operated by Second Move, Inc., a Delaware corporation formed on July 23, 2026. Second Move may analyze public game history and produce diagnoses, evidence positions, and training suggestions. Beta features may change, pause, or end.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 and legally able to agree to these terms. Submit only a chess account you own or are authorized to use.

3. Public account access

By submitting a Chess.com or Lichess username, you authorize us to retrieve and process public profile and game-history data for the requested beta experience. We do not request your chess-platform password. Second Move is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Chess.com or Lichess.

4. Training, not live assistance

Second Move is for post-game education and training. Do not use it for live move assistance, cheating, account abuse, or any violation of a chess platform’s rules.

5. No performance guarantee

Chess analysis and training recommendations may be incomplete or wrong. We do not guarantee rating gains, tournament results, or any particular improvement. Use your judgment and independently verify important analysis.

6. Beta limitations

The beta may contain errors, lose availability, process only some games, or produce no diagnosis when evidence is insufficient. Illustrative examples are not customer results or performance claims.

7. Pricing and payments

The intended full-plan price is $69 per year after a 14-day trial. The current beta form is an interest and qualification request only: it does not create a paid subscription, take payment, or begin automatic renewal. Any future checkout will state the exact price, currency, renewal, cancellation, refund, and tax terms before purchase.

8. Feedback and publicity

You may provide feedback for product improvement. We will not use your name, quote, game history, or results as a testimonial without separate permission.

9. Intellectual property

Second Move’s original software, design, and content belong to the operator or its licensors. You retain rights in information you submit and receive a limited, personal, revocable right to use beta outputs for your own training.

10. Acceptable use

Do not interfere with the service, bypass limits, introduce malware, impersonate others, infringe rights, or use outputs to harass or publicly shame another player.

11. Suspension and termination

We may restrict access for security, abuse, legal risk, or material breach. You may stop using the beta and request deletion subject to applicable retention duties.

12. Disclaimers

The beta is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Second Move, Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from the service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid Second Move during the 12 months preceding the claim. These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability arising from fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights available under applicable law.

14. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere, disputes arising from these terms or the service must be brought exclusively in the state courts located in New Castle County, Delaware, or the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, and each party consents to those courts' jurisdiction. Either party may bring an eligible claim in small-claims court.

15. Changes

We may update these terms and will post the revised date. Material changes will be communicated where required.
